You may be pregnant for the first time, recently have had your first baby… or you may have a couple of children already…. Either way – Mother’s Day is approaching and it’s time for you to be spoilt and celebrate the hard work & effort mums put in everyday (and every night)!
I remember my first mother’s day, 5 years ago. I was pregnant with my daughter Zara and thought to myself, ‘I hope someone acknowledges it is MY Mother’s Day too! I am, after all growing a baby in my body!’ I was pleased with beautiful blooms and cards to make me feel that extra bit special.
Since then I’ve had 4 more Mother’s Day’s, which I share with my own mother and mother in law, usually having a nice lunch with the family. This year I have decided I would sign up the kids and hubby for the Mother’s Day Classic 4km walk and raise some money for breast cancer. Not only will we be giving back to all the families who are struggling with this illness, but also acknowledge those who have lost their mums to breast cancer. I am also simply looking forward to just being together and spending time outdoors, surrounded by like minded people.
And I wouldn’t mind waking up to cup of tea in bed and some hand made cards by my girls! Just saying…
Some of my girlfriends on the other hand take a different approach, and see Mother’s Day as their ‘Day Off’ from being a mum! Released from the 4 walls of the family home, changing nappies, wiping noses, running after their kids… and use the day to watch a movie with girlfriends or go into the city and shop – alone. In peace and quiet!! Not a bad idea come to think of it… but I think I’d still like my little rug rats around me no matter how many nappies I need to change.
